Restaurants in Vicksburg

Historically known for its landmark Civil War battle, Vicksburg has long since carved out its own unique southern style of fine cuisine. The combination of upscale dining and homestyle restaurants have one thing in common: excellent southern cooking.

Main Street Market Café

Both coming from large families with great expertise in a southern kitchen, owners Chris and Sally have worked to keep this café all about family. Located in Old Town Vicksburg, this restaurant features a warm and cozy inside that is not unlike your own dining room at home. In a change of pace of your standard restaurant, the menu here changes daily based off of available ingredients that are all locally sourced. Devoid of deep fryers, this restaurant keeps clean eating as a high priority. Gumbo, muffaletta, prime rib, and Sally’s homemade biscuits are staples on their menu.

Walnut Hills Restaurant

This unique restaurant is housed in an old plantation-style home built around the year 1880. This restaurant has been featured in dozens of food programs and magazines including Good Morning America and Southern Living. Although the restaurant is known for its award-winning fried chicken, their menu features several southern staples. Herdcine Williams has been their long-time head chef for over thirty years. Salmon, Steak and Catfish are considered to be house favorites with each plate constructed as a work of art.

Café Anchuca

Café Anchuca is an exclusive restaurant attached to the Greek-revival style home known as the Anchuca Mansion. The Anchuca Mansion is the area’s oldest bed and breakfast; and is still available for overnight stays as well as home tours. The café itself has a menu that rotates daily. Their signature “café filet,” farm raised catfish, and their delicious shrimp and grits make regular appearances throughout the week. Plan carefully, as the restaurant has limited openings, with dinner service from only 5:30-8:30pm with tapas on Sundays.

Rusty’s Riverfront Bar and Grill

Just one block away from the Mississippi River, Rusty’s Riverfront Bar and Grill has been consistently voted the best restaurant in all of Vicksburg by multiple organizations. They have been serving Vicksburg since the early 2000s and feature a simple but modern restaurant area. Their menu is very seafood heavy, with grouper, oysters, and shrimp all cooked to your specifications. They also have a large sandwich menu as well as your choice of excellent cuts of steak. They also have a full bar along with recommended wine pairings for any dish.

Beechwood Restaurant and Lounge

Beechwood is a locally famous restaurant that has been roadside in Vicksburg since the 1950s. With plenty of space on the inside, they host fun gatherings and live music every weekend and boast an enormous full bar.  Not only do they serve some of the best steaks in Vicksburg, but also are one of the best nightlife spots in the city. The menu is extensive serving several southern staples including catfish fillets, oysters, shrimp, and po’ boy sandwiches. They also serve several delicious cuts of steak, including filet mignons and massive angus rib eyes.
